2019 was the 2nd-hottest year on record. All-time temperature records were broken in France, Germany and elsewhere. Greenland ice sheet experienced exceptional melting, and broiling temperatures contributed to wildfires in Australia. The analysis by Copernicus Climate Change Services state that an upward trend in temperature continues as emissions of greenhouse gases trap heat in the atmosphere and change the climate. Nuclear reactors in France and Germany were forced to reduce output or shutdown because the cooling water became too warm. The Greenland ice sheet lost a net total of about 300 billion tons of ice.
